This dataset is a GIS-ready polygonal representation of geographic areas of operational administration within Parks Operations Division, Alberta Environment and Parks.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This dataset contains region boundaries which divide the province of Alberta into broad areas of operational administration, with respect to Parks Operations Division responsibilities on parks and protected areas administered by Alberta Environment and Parks. Parks Operations Division Districts nest within Management Areas, which in turn nest within Parks Operations Division Regions. These boundaries are administrative/operational in nature, and are subject to change.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

Changes in Parks Operations Division Region boundaries are often related to changes in program administration and/or staff reporting structure. Boundaries are based on existing data (see " Data Source Description"), usually traced. In general, accuracy is +/- 5m where a Region boundary follows ATS or hydrography. Accuracy can decrease to +/- 20m where boundaries follow source data features which have been updated from IRS imagery.
Consolidated Northeast and Northwest regions into "North". Resolved topological issues against Base Mapping provincial boundary in the Crowsnest area, Twps 7-9, Rgs 5-6, W5th.
Administrative decision to consolidate NE/NW. Topological issues resolved to better align with Base Mapping provincial boundary.
