Oil Sands Agreement feature class contains provincial extent polygon features representing Oil Sands applications, agreements, leases, and licences, with varying term dates and conditions. These applications and subsequent agreements give the holder the right to explore Oil Sands.<\/SPAN><\/P>

The Alberta tenure system facilitates the leasing of rights that enable companies to explore for and develop minerals for the benefit of Albertans. Public offerings (or sales) of rights are held and results are reported, the contents of the sale are determined by industry client requests. After each sale, Crown rights are issued in the form of licences or leases to the highest bidder on each parcel.<\/SPAN><\/P>
