Service Description: Alberta Wildfire - Forest Protection Area (FPA) service includes the polygons designed to provide a representation of the Forest Protection Area for the province of Alberta.The Forest Protection Area (FPA) in Alberta is a designated region established under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act to protect forests from wildfire, insects, disease, and other harmful agents. It covers much of Alberta’s forested lands, particularly in the northern and western parts of the province. Within the FPA, the Government of Alberta is responsible for wildfire prevention, detection, and suppression activities. Special fire regulations may apply, including fire permits, restrictions, and bans during high-risk periods. The FPA helps safeguard communities, natural resources, wildlife habitat, and the forest industry.
