Service Description: Wildfire - NOTAM - Notice to Airmen Service includes the polygons designed to provide users with a representation of the NOTAM Areas for the province of Alberta.NOTAM means a notice to airmen concerning the establishment or condition of, or change in, any aeronautical facility, service or procedure, or any hazard affecting aviation safety, the knowledge of which is essential to personnel engaged in flight operations. Referenced from the Government of Canada, Justice Laws Website.A notice to airmen (NOTAM) is a memo that informs pilots of important updates and potential hazards to note for a specific flight, like a wildfire. Currently, all NOTAMs in Canada are distributed in what’s called the Canadian domestic NOTAM format. Referenced from the NAV CANADA Website.During a wildfire there is smoke and other aircrafts in the air space so a NOTAM is issued with NAV CANADA to warn other aircrafts to avoid the area.
