The Environment and Parks Lands Officer Working Zones dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Environment and Parks Lands Officer Working Zones within the Province of Alberta. The dataset is to help Government of Alberta Staff in determining which Lands Officer is responsible for the approvals within each zone.
The Environment and Parks Lands Officer Working Zones dataset provides users with GIS ready polygonal representation of the Lands Officers Working Zones in the Province of Alberta, and is suitable for indexing or analysis purposes.
NOTE: Special Areas Working Zones
Parts of southeastern Alberta were hit particularly hard by the Depression and drought of the 1930s. In 1938, the Provincial Government established a special governing body – called the Special Areas Board - to provide municipal services and supports in place to enable this region to recover and thrive. Like a municipal government, the Special Areas Board looks after roads and parks, provides water and emergency services, manages public land and community pastures, and develops economic development and agricultural conservation strategies.
The Special Areas are not assigned an Alberta Environment and Parks Lands Division Officer and the Special Area Lands Division Working Zone Office should be contacted.
