Service Description: The Alberta Township System (ATS) Grid feature layer provides a province-wide geospatial framework based on the Dominion Land Survey system used throughout Alberta. The layer represents townships, ranges, meridians, sections, and legal subdivisions, enabling the accurate identification, management, and reporting of land-based information. It serves as a foundational reference dataset for resource management, land administration, infrastructure planning, environmental assessment, emergency response, and geographic analysis. It provides a standardized land location system and the ATS Grid supports integration with other spatial datasets and ensures consistent spatial referencing across government, industry, and public sector applications throughout Alberta. In this representation of the ATS the road allowance polygons have been merged with their parent LSDs to create a seamless grid.
