Service Description: This site contains Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation data. Since 1968, Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch has installed benchmarks to support its water resource management activities. A benchmark is a relatively permanent object, natural or artificial, whose geodetic elevation is known. Benchmark data consists of surveyed elevations and the name of the benchmark. Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) has installed benchmarks to support its water resource management activities. The Alberta Government owns these benchmarks, however they may not be under Alberta Government control and there is no way of knowing if a benchmark has been disturbed or destroyed.
