The Base Waterbody Polygon is the Alberta Environment and Parks base hydrography polygon dataset designed to provide users with a full provincial extent GIS ready hydrography polygon base data layer to support business applications and decision making, related to water bodies and major water courses in Alberta. The dataset is comprised of a seamless provincial extent of hydrography polygon features collected from various sources of provincial base and resource map based data and some federal topographic data. This group is not visible beyond the scale of 1:27,733,946, with groups of individual layers or individual layers displays, governed by visual optimized scale thresholds. For detailed information concerning of the layers, whether within a group or individual, please refer to their individual layer descriptions.
