This Surface Water Diversion - Applications Water Act dataset was produced under the Spatial Enabling of AENV Datasets project funded by Alberta Environment. The geographic extent of the dataset is within the boundaries of Province of Alberta. The source data includes information collected by Alberta Environment on licence, temporary diversion licence, registration, and code of practice notification forms under the Water Act. The data also includes information collected from plans and reports submitted with the application. Data is not limited to the Water Act and includes information collected under predecessor Acts. Alberta Environment collects this information under the following sections of the Water Act: Licences - Section 50(1) and 54(3); Temporary Diversion Licences - Section 62(1); Registrations - Section 73(4); Transfers - Section 81(1); and Notifications under Codes of Practice - Section 4(1) of the Water (Ministerial) Regulation. The information collected under the Act may be disclosed under Section 15 of the Water (Ministerial) Regulation. The Water Act data is entered, categorized and stored in Alberta Environment's Environmental Management System (EMS). The data is queried and exported to the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) on daily basis where it made available to the Surface Water Diversion - Applications.
