Fire Behaviour Potential, in Wildfire Threat Assessment modelling, is the manner in which fuel ignites, flame develops, and the fire spreads. It is determined by the interaction of the forest fuel type, head fire intensity, and crowning potential. Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Fuel Type Service contains the raster dataset which is comprised of several types of vegetation and non vegetation classifications for use with Prometheus (the Canadian Wildland Fire Growth Model), other fire growth models or general cartographic products for the province of Alberta.The Canadian Forest FBP System provides quantitative estimates of potential head fire spread rate, fuel consumption, and fire intensity, as well as fire descriptions. With the aid of an elliptical fire growth model, the FBP system gives estimates of fire area, perimeter, perimeter growth rate, and fire behaviour at the head, flanks, and back of a fire.
