The layers contained here are used to facilitate the Irrigation District Water Quality Data Tool Web Mapping Application. Layers include irrigation district water quality measurement sites and data, and basic infrastructure linework. This project is a partnership between Alberta’s Irrigation Districts, Alberta Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Economic Development; and Agriculture and Agri-food Canada to assess the quality of water in Alberta’s Irrigation Districts. Funding for this project has been provided by Canada Alberta Water Supply Expansion Program, Alberta’s Irrigation Rehabilitation Program and Alberta Irrigation Districts. Four different types of sites are monitored: AEP – sites on government owned infrastructure where water is diverted from a river and delivered to an irrigation district Primary – sites on main canals where source water enters an irrigation district (site name denoted by "-P") Secondary – sites on lateral canals that branch off of main canals or are immediately downstream of mid-district reservoirs (site name denoted by "-S") Return - sites at the end of irrigation district infrastructure where the unused irrigation water returns to the rivers (site name denoted by "-R") |
