description: Based on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms minority language rights provisions, Alberta established francophone school authorities to allow francophone communities to administer their own schools, and provide French language instruction, wherever numbers warrant. This layer shows the school boundaries established by Alberta Education and is a work under progress. This group of layers represents the Francophone Education Region label, outline and fill area with an outline. The label layer, Francophone Education Region Boundary Label, is not visible out beyond 1:6,933,486, the outline layer, Francophone Education Region Boundary Outline is not visible out beyond 1:13,866,973 and the Francophone Education Region Boundary fill area with and outline layer is not visible out beyond 1:27,733,946. The School and School Authority Boundary is an approximated visualization of the School Authority boundary information that is currently available on the Alberta Education public website (education.alberta.ca/boundary-maps/school-jurisdiction-maps/everyone/view-and-print-maps/). The information has been informed by Ministerial Orders and is presented in a mapping format. This data set is intended to give a reasonable representation of school authority francophone boundaries. However, this data should be used with caution as it might have problems which can impact display and analysis. The data also contains multipart polygons, gaps, slivers, and unattributed polygons which could be lakes.
