Service Description: The following layers are included in this map service:Purpose Built Wildlife Overpass and UnderpassA structure that physically separate wildlife from traffic and allow safe wildlife passage across roadways. Underpasses (below-grade crossings) and overpasses (above-grade crossings) are the typical crossing structures used to mitigate for Animal-Vehicle Collision (AVC) when paired with a wildlife exclusion fence.Existing Wildlife Crossing OpportunitiesRetrofit/Reuse Mitigation improves existing infrastructure for the purpose of AVC mitigation such as enhancing wildlife habitat at an existing structure or extending an existing fence. Retrofits do not include structural changes to an existing bridge file. Retrofit mitigations require an AVC mitigation plan.Wildlife Exclusion FenceA fence that prevents wild animals from entering onto a roadway and reduce or eliminate the potential for Animal-Vehicle Collision (AVC). Exclusion fencing also guides wildlife to a safer crossing such as an underpass or overpass.Animal Detection System (ADS) TrialA sensor that detects large animals before they enter the road and then warn drivers that a large animal is on or near the road at that time.Please visit Alberta Wildlife Watch Program URL: https://www.alberta.ca/alberta-wildlife-watch-program
