Service Description: This map service represents the predicted flow channel data derived from the bare ground digital elevation model of digitally processed LiDAR surface images of one (1.0) metre resolution. These predicted flow channel lines depict potential locations of stream channels. These channels may not always be wet during every season, but they are predicted to have a high potential for being wet during a heavy rain event or wet season. Stream channels are predicted across the landscape such that a minimum of four (4.0) hectares of up-slope area must drain to any specific point before a channel will be initiated. The primary purpose of this data is to inform land managers of the potential presence of sensitive aquatic habitats and areas sensitive to disturbance. Early identification of these features in the planning process should contribute to achieving goals related to land stewardship and sustainability. This product was developed primarily to assist Alberta's forest sector in ensuring the sustainability of these sensitive aquatic habitats that are threatened by the Mountain Pine Beetle. The predicted flow channel lines, derived from the bare-ground digital elevation model of digitally processed LiDAR surface images, inform about the potential locations of stream channel beds across the landscape. These polyline shapefiles are an intermediate step in the wet areas mapping process and are used to define the connected hydrographic network across the landscape. The layer contained within this service, Wet Areas Mapping - Predicted Streams, is not visible out beyone the scale of 1:108, 335.Data Use LimitationsThis dataset has been provided with the intent that it be readily available for personal and public non-commercial (educational) use and except where otherwise prohibited, may be reproduced, in part or in whole and by any means, without charge or further permission from the Forest Management Branch, Forestry Division,, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Government of Alberta. It is asked that the materials not be modified, users exercise due diligence in ensuring the accuracy of the materials, the Government of Alberta be identified as the source of the materials, the reproduction is not represented as an official version of the materials reproduced, not as having been made in affiliation with or with the endorsement of the Government of Alberta, reproduction of multiple copies of materials, in whole or in part, for the purposes of commercial distribution is prohibited, except with written permission from the Forest Management Brand, Forestry Division, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Government of Alberta.
